The Opportunity

The Senior Communications Director, Operations , will report to the VP of Communications and directly support the company’s Chief Operating Officer in areas including change management, strategic communications planning and Executive communications.

The successful candidate will be an expert internal communicator, who will both create organizational communications for our Operations group, and support our Operations group in communicating to the rest of the company. We seek someone who has considerable experience in providing confident counsel to Executive Leadership; creating highly strategic and strong communications quickly, whether a speech, messaging, talking points or organizational correspondence; change management, navigating and communicating change in a rapidly evolving organization; and communicating the specifics of, and rationale for, structural changes up and down the organization.

The successful candidate will reside within our larger Communications team, partnering with other Communications colleagues on matrixed projects that include Operations components and be amenable to working Pacific or Mountain time zone hours.

Responsibilities

• Creates communications materials (and adapts existing organizational communications) for our Operations group, primarily supporting the COO
• Communicates on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer to the rest of the company
• Track-record of successfully advising and coaching senior executives on communications issues, with specific support for the Chief Operating Officer.
• Strong writer who can write quickly at a high level, with minimal editing
• Creates strategic, long-term plans for communicating change
• Coordinates with leaders across the company to ensure that communications strategies and messages are aligned in a highly matrixed organization.
• Presents and socializes communications strategies and messages with senior leadership and operations teams.
• Develops, contributes to, and executes a measurement and reporting structure to understand the efficacy of communications strategies and inform systematic improvements.
• Manages internal and external resources in the implementation of strategies, with experience in people management.
• Translates sometimes-complex business and operational concepts into messaging accessible to all employees.
• Oversees multiple change management initiatives simultaneously, developing a strategic approach to their overlap and staging.
• Collaborates with others on the enterprise communications team to ensure that communications on operational initiatives are coordinated with the company’s overall internal and external communications plan.

Candidate Profile

• Proven results in designing and executing communications plans and strategies
• Strong sense of what makes a good story and the ability to craft compelling narratives
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate concisely and clearly
• Knowledge of business operations and the healthcare business
• Strategic thinker, who can make independent decisions in a fast-moving environment
• Highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail
• Solid time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
• Significant scaled business acumen, with an understanding of complex organizational operations.
• Experience advising and counseling senior executives, with consistent success in positively influencing business decisions.

Required Qualifications

• 13+ years of communications experience inclusive of in house, corporate communications (corporate/agency mix acceptable), supporting C-Suite level Executives.
• Communications experience in the healthcare industry.
• Bachelor's Degree; Master's highly valued

The base salary range for this position is $174,000-$200,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for performance bonus, RSU’s, and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here: Teladoc Health Benefits 2023. Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.
